Robin Payne trained as an actor at NIDA, Sydney, and as a director / teacher at Central School of Speech and Drama, London, UK.

A former Director of Toi Whakaari : NZ Drama School, her work has ranged from Voice Coach at Melbourne Theatre Co; Head of Voice at WAAPA, guest teacher at VCA, Central, NIDA, ACT, Juilliard and many other schools; Guest Artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company; to, most recently, Senior Lecturer with the Intercultural Theatre Institute, Singapore.

She has worked in theatre for 50 years, all over the world; the last 25 years deeply committed to intercultural theatre exploration. Her passion for directing focusses on contemporary and devised work as well as classical.

Shakespeare remains a great love and source of constant discovery.
