Fiona McNamara


Fiona was first involved in Summer Shakespeare in the 2009 production of Henry V. Soon afterwards she was co-opted to the committee for Summer Shakespeare’s 30th Anniversary, and then became a Trustee.

Fiona is a graduate of Victoria University’s Theatre Programme. After graduating, she co-founded experimental performance company Binge Culture, and performs and co-directs Binge Culture’s Whales, an outdoor performance of a whale stranding, which has toured throughout New Zealand and in 2017 to Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Fiona has been involved in performing and directing Shakespeare since she was at high school and performed at London’s Globe Theatre as part of SGCNZ’s Young Shakespeare Company.

Fiona is committed to social justice and works in the community sector as General Manager for Sexual Abuse Prevention Network and is a Trustee and member of the Paetakawaenga for TOAH-NNEST, the national network of specialist sexual violence services.
